White foam from the impact of the last wave is covering the ocean surface as the next wave heaves over. Looks like snow. An interesting point in the photo is the halo around the sun, called "sun dogs" (scientific name "parhelion"), caused by ice crystals in the upper atmosphere. Rainbows around the sun are very unusual in Hawaii.
